  • In 2002 MIT launched the OpenCourseWare (OCW) website: ocw.mit.edu. The basic concept was to make educational material freely available to the public. Since its inception many (over 200 or so) other universities have adopted the principles and created there own OCW projects. See the OpenCourseWare Consortium website. Here are a few of the many OCW sites:
  • Oxford University Mathematics OpenCouseWare
    Berkeley Webcast
    UC Irvine OpenCourseWare
    Notre Dame OpenCourseWare
    Open Yale courses
    UMass Boston OpenCourseWare
    Open.Michigan
    Tufts OpenCourseWare
    Utah State OpenCourseWare
  • Another website which offers free online video lectures is Academic Earth. This site has just recently been launched (March 2009) and many of these lectures come from the OCW websites available.
  • iTunes U, which is part of the iTunes Store is also another large collection of free educational media.
